Meet Your New Queen

The Greater Pine Island Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce the MangoMania Queen of 2018. This year our Queen is Kayla McGuire.

Captain Kayla McGuire was born and raised on Pine Island and graduated from Ida Baker High School. Her parents owned and operated many business’ on the island while she was growing up and now Kayla and her husband Capt. Cory McGuire of Falling Tide Charters are doing just the same. Falling Tide Charters was founded in 2009 and has continued to grow with Kayla and Cory fishing anglers from all across the country over 300 days a year.

When she’s not on the water, Capt. Kayla sells real estate for Donna and Phil Gilles at BlueWater Realty of Pine Island; an agency which has been in business for over 15 years.

Due to being raised on the waters of Pine Island Sound, Kayla became passionate about a non-profit, Captains for Clean Water, which was founded in 2016 after the Lake Okeechobee water releases. The time Kayla spends working at Captains for Clean Water has provided her opportunities to travel to Tallahassee and Washington DC to meet with state legislators, and members of Congress from across the country to discuss the importance of Everglades restoration. Kayla’s time on the water and experience as a realtor allow her to effectively communicate the economic argument for fixing Florida’s water.

Kayla and her husband Cory both love living on the island and support many of the large events and foundations such as the Bobby Holloway Memorial Fishing Tournament, From Our Hearts- Breast Fest, Beacon of Hope, Mango Mania, Berts Redfish Challenge, and the Lil Bobbers Fishing Tournament. In their spare time, you can find the island couple on the water with their two dogs, Boca and Cayo, or stopping into Lazy Flamingo for oysters and a fresh fish sandwich.
